Luna Display by Astropad

1. Download the primary app: Download and install the Luna Display app on your computer. 
2. Launch the primary app: Launch the Luna Display app and follow the on-screen instructions. Plug in your Luna Display device when prompted:
3. Download the secondary app: Download the Luna secondary app on your iPad or Mac.
4. Connect your devices: Make sure both of your devices are on the same network or are connected via a compatible cable. 
5. Ready to go! Once you launch the apps on both devices, they’ll connect. You can adjust settings and screen arrangements in the Luna Display app.

There are many factors that play into deciding which connection method is right for your setup. Let’s go over some basics on how to best set up your Luna Display environment.

WiFi Connections

Using Luna over WiFi: 

• ✅ Great for: If you’d like to use Luna Display without being confined to a wired connection. 
• 🚫 Not ideal for: If you’re connecting at an office or in a public place, such as at a hotel or coffee shop. WiFi connections work best over a private network (like at your house).

Recommendations for WiFi:

• Router: Use a modern wireless router that supports 802.11ac.
• Network Band: If you’re using a dual-band router (802.11n or newer) that offers both 2.4G and 5G network bands, make sure both devices are connected to the 5G band.

Thunderbolt cable

• ✅ Great for: Using Luna in Mac-to-Mac Mode
• 🚫 Not ideal for: Windows PC users

Ethernet cable 

• ✅ Great for: Everyone! Mac and Windows users alike. 
• 👉 Pro tip: Connect an Ethernet cable directly between your two computers OR connect an Ethernet cable from both computers directly to your router. 

USB cable 

• ✅ Great for: Computer-to-iPad Mode; Mac-to-Mac Mode.
• 👉 Need a cable? Your USB cable must be capable of data transfer. Here are some of our recommended cables! 

• ✅ Great for: If you want to work wirelessly but your network is unstable. This method requires macOS Catalina 10.15 or later on your Macs. WiFi needs to be enabled on each device, but a network connection isn't necessary
